Kintsugi Heart Counseling

Mending towards
a more beautiful
wholeness.

Telehealth therapy for California adults

I help people stop fighting their own minds and start building a life that actually fits them.

If you're navigating recovery, anxiety, or a life that's shifted in ways you're still catching up to — this is a place to start.

金継ぎ
There is a Japanese art form called kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with gold, so that the cracks become the most beautiful part of the piece. The hard years, the places where life has come apart — those aren't failures. Those are the places we repair with love.

Who you'll be
working with

I'm Rick — a licensed therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience, a husband, and a father. I've worked as lead clinician, clinical supervisor, and regional director across community mental health before building this practice.

When you sit across from me, you're sitting with someone who has seen what people are capable of — even when they couldn't see it themselves. I will hold hope for you. Regardless of what you've been told, what you've done, or what you've come to believe — I know change is real, and I know it's possible for you.

I work primarily with adults navigating recovery, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions.

An integrative approach

My approach is integrative — meaning the methods we use are shaped around you, not the other way around. By using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, and CBT principles, we work with your mind, not against it.

01

Integrative Framework

No single method fits every person. I draw from ACT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness — selecting and combining what actually fits your situation and goals.

02

ACT & Acceptance

A core part of our work: learning to hold difficult thoughts and feelings without being run by them. Making room for what's hard so it stops running the show — and clarifying what actually matters to you.

03

Real-World Change

Insight only goes so far. We work toward actual movement — small, consistent steps in directions that matter to you. That's where lasting change lives.

What we can
work on together

Early Recovery & Addiction

Support for individuals navigating sobriety, relapse, rebuilding after substance use — whatever path recovery is taking for you.

Anxiety & Depression

Evidence-based approaches to the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck — with room for your specific experience, not a generic protocol.

Life Transitions

Career changes, relationship shifts, identity questions, loss — the moments when life moves faster than your sense of self can keep up.

General Adult Individual Therapy

You don't have to fit a category. If something's hard and you want support — that's enough.
